Former CIA director Michael Hayden recently stated, “We are the most destabilizing force in the world.”  We see in the Trump administration a hint at what sacrifices can be made in the pursuit of economic growth.  As resources become increasingly scarce, we can expect increasingly dire trade-offs between growth, the stability of international institutions, and the well-being of much of the world’s population. There is a hope to rediscover our morality in the transition to a steady state economy.
